Do you wonder how to create a magic filled beautiful setting that is easy to do but looks effortless? One that is perfect for a special occasion or an any day occasion? All things flower filled are my favorites when it comes to entertaining and setting a pretty table- and with Mother’s Day just around the corner-perfect for a lovely Sunday brunch with mom too.
How to Create a Mother’s Day Table Setting
I have to be honest. I cannot believe it is already May. And already the first week in May with Mother’s Day just a few days away. Maybe it is because we are unseasonably rainy and chilly so far this month – but really, I feel like this year has been zooming by. Before you know it- we will be into summer and pulling out Christmas trees for Christmas All July. Today though, we are talking Mother’s Day and how to create a beautiful brunch table setting for celebrating with mom.
Where to set up a table
A sage green buffalo check cloth sets the stage for a lovely brunch under a floral filled chandelier. The secret to this cloth? It is actually a rectangle tablecloth that I doubled over to fit this round table. I love the bit of drape it brings and of course, the beautiful faded check backdrop sets the stage for a mix and mingle of florals.
Tip: Choose a cloth with a pattern for more design impact. I chose this green check since it mingles so well with the florals but a simple soft color cloth would be stunning too.
Originally, I had planned to set this table outdoors under the oak tree. But with rain in the forecast, we looked for a different spot to create a charming garden party feeling. And the sun porch was the perfect place.
Tip: Set the stage and think outside the box when deciding where to set your table. A room with an abundance of windows can create a garden feeling indoors. Bring in some potted trees to add a ‘canopy’ and leafy backdrop.
Place Setting Details
Floral covered plates, vintage flatware and those delicious vintage green goblets were perfect for creating beautiful place settings for mom.
Tip: There is beauty in the mingle, so don’t overlook those mismatched plates and flatware when setting a table. Choose a theme- floral plates for example and gather several patterns to mix together.
Flower Filled Centerpiece Idea
A basket full of ruffly garden roses is a beautiful centerpiece. This is an outdoor safe hanging basket that I bought indoors. I love this floral collection from Balsam Hill- the roses look so incredibly realistic and I love them indoors as much as outdoors. You might remember them from my London Inspired Door HERE
Tip: Outdoor flowers can become beautiful indoor floral accents as well and a basket or pot of flowers works perfectly as a centerpiece.
Flower Filled Chandelier Idea
Inspired by a flower filled wedding, I wanted to create a beautiful floaty floral arrangement above the table. The roses echo the centerpiece and the sage green color mingles perfectly with the tablecloth and I love that there is something unexpected that dazzles above. I used a wreath here and will share the breakdown on how easy it is to create this look soon.
Tip: When creating the most beautiful table- think about the spaces around and above as other places you can add ambiance. Florals tucked into a chandelier or a garland draped on a door frame bring another unexpected layer and inspire the moment for your guests.
