It’s amazing to me that we have now published our 28th edition of our MFCH magazine! We started back in 2019, and over the years we find a bigger and more international audience. I am grateful to our readers for their ongoing support and enthusiasm, I absolutely love putting each edition together!!
My team and I have decided to dedicate the entire July/August edition to the south of France. A region that holds a special place in my heart. My French adventure started in Nice many moons ago, when I arrived as a young, starry-eyed student.
This vibrant and varied region offers a feast for the senses at every turn. In my case, the first thing that struck me was the amazing light of the Côte d’Azur: a bright, warm glow that seemed to make colors bounce. Then there’s the caress of warm breezes in the summer, the soothing rhythms of Mediterranean waves breaking on the shore, not to mention the scents of pine, citrus, sweet flowers, and herbs like rosemary and thyme.
It was only a matter of weeks before I had fallen under the spell of the South. By the end of that academic year, I had fallen in love – not only with France but with a young French boy, who was to become my partner for life.
I’m so excited to celebrate the south of France with you here, starting with a guide to my beloved Nice. You will find a collection of our favorite addresses for dining, shopping and exploring the best that this glorious city has to offer. In our Portfolio, you will find tantalizing images from Lérins, a string of islands just off the coast of Cannes. The stunning gardens of Madone and Sauveboeuf, meanwhile, will take your breath away.
Of course, the south is much more than the French Riviera. We are delighted to share with you some beautiful homes in the southern interior, including a lovingly restored property in the Luberon, as well as an old silk farm-tuned guest house in the Gard.
We also introduce you to Kate Dickenson, whose antique silver shop is a must-see for visitors to the antique mecca of Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, and Guillaume Dubosq, a master olivewood artisan. Sara Charrier, an interior architect in Valbonne, will dazzle you with her boutique and insights into the secrets of design.
Finally, no focus on the south of France would be complete without a few scrumptious regional recipes! We hope that you enjoy sharing them with beloved friends and family!
